Drama as the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II and the deposed Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero held parallel two Rakat Friday prayer at their palace.
While Sanusi led his supporters to observe the prayers at the palace mosque, Bayero held the prayer session with his supporters at the Gidan Nassarawa, the Emir’s Guest house.
Earlier, there was unease calm as supporters of the duo had speculated that they reportedly planned to observed the two rakat Friday prayer at the palace mosque and thereby calling on the ardent supporters to troop out en masse for the prayer session.
At the wake of Friday, what looks like an itinerary of the duo of Sanusi and Bayero surfaced indicating that the duo planned to observe the prayers at the different mosque.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Gumel has doused the tension in the state by debunking speculations that Bayero will observed the Friday prayer at the palace mosque.
CP Gumel in a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna described the speculation as false and called on the residents to disregard it and go about their day to day activities.
“The Kano State Police Command is hereby advising all residents to disregard the false information circulating on social media that Emir Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero will lead Jumma’t Prayers at Kofar Kudu Central Mosque, Kano.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, further assured that all necessary security arrangements have been made for Alhaji Aminu Bayero to observe his Jummah Prayers in the Mosque where he lives at the Nasarawa Palace.
“The CP also assured that the Police and all other state security agencies will provide adequate security at the Palace where Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is expected to observe his Jumma’at Prayers.
“Members of the public are therefore advised to ignore the false reports and misinformation circulating on social media and to go about their activities without fear of molestation or intimidation assuring that the Police will continue to provide the necessary security for ensuring that residents observe their Friday congressional prayers peacefully and without threats to their lives and property,” SP Haruna said.
