In order to give back to their Alma mater and make learning convenient for the students, Old Students of Ora Grammar School (both Junior and Senior), situated at Ora Community , Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State; have facilitated block of classrooms and installed borehole for the use of the teachers and students.
Ora Grammar School Old Students Association (OGSOSA) made this known during the distribution of free writing materials to all the students of the school.
According to the President of the Alumni Association, certified engineer cum School proprietor, Azeez Abiodun Olaniyan, OGSOSA has sung many meaningful projects into the school; ranging from the construction of school laboratory, giving cash awards, buying of equipment, giving scholarship awards to brilliant students and many more.
He said, ‘‘Our Alumni Association has contributed immensely to the development of Ora Grammar School (both Junior and Senior), considering the numbers of projects delivered to the citadel of learning. We have installed borehole and generating set to create free flow of water for the students and teachers.
‘‘Apart from donating stationeries like text books, exercise books and other writing materials, the association facilitated the construction of block of classrooms aside equipping the constructed Science laboratory.’’
Olaniyan added that OGSOSA has raised the bar of excellence in the school by awarding scholarships to brilliant students and payment of West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for the under privileged students.
The President later urged all meaningful individuals to support Ora Grammar School as Government cannot do it alone.
Engineer Olaniyan equally called on people to support the government of AbdulRahman AbdulRazak, Kwara State Governor, who is trying to reposition the state as the efforts of OGSOSA is to corroborate government’s many achievements.
Meanwhile, the Principal of Ora Grammar School (Senior), Mr Ike Chidi lauded the Alumni Association for giving back to the school.
He stated that the facilities provided will spur the students to excel in their studies.
On the same vein, Senior School Principal, Mr Malik R.K lauded the Old students for all their efforts in making the lives of the students better.
While advising the students to make use of the School laboratory and other facilities, OGSOSA Membership Coordinator, Mr Ahmed Alabi implored the students to be more serious with their studies and shun vices.
In addition, OGSOSA Project Secretary, Alhaji Rafiu Adeshina advised the students to be focused, attentive and serious with their studies and further educate the students on the importance of hard work and good behavior as alumi will continue the principle of recognition and awards for the best behaved amongst the students.
