At this year Media Consortium’s Conference & Awards centered on Consumer Journey in a digital age: Prospects and Challenges, the marketing body has tasked corporate organisations and professionals to look inward and imbibe the spirit of innovative strategies to reshape the way they engage with consumers in this digital age.
The Conference was held on Thursday, 28th September, 2023; at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos.
In the Welcome address, Media Consortium opined that today’s consumers are empowered with refined information through digital technologies and have access to world of information about products and services.
It said, ”In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving digital landscape, the consumer journey has undergone a remarkable transformation. Gone are the days when consumer choices were primarily influenced by traditional advertising and limited information. Instead, we find ourselves in an era where consumers are empowered like never before. They have access to a world of information, products, and services right at their fingertips, thanks to the internet and digital technologies.”
During the paper presentation, Obafemi Darabidan, Chief Operating Officer of CLAN Africa explored the reasons while every organisation must always consider consumers while putting out message.
Another speaker, Tony Agenmonmen, stated that it is vital for professionals to create new strategies to engage the consumers since many customers have access to technologies.
Meanwhile, Sandra Amachree, Head, Marketing Coummunication, Nigerian Breweries Plc advised that companies must put into consideration consumers’ skills and technological abilities while giving out messages.
She added that corporate organisations must create more channels to engage with their customers since everything is all about them.
”In my organisation, we are very proud about the way we introduce consumers into our world, the world of our brands. We make use of our brands, brand activations to give back to our consumers and allow them to enjoy themselves. That is the reasons we create a key platform to engage with our customers like our digital channels. Our consumers are very paramount to us,” she said.
To Nelson Ochonogor, Head, Product Management BaaS & Integration of FCMB, consumer engagement is the key in every sectors as all efforts put together by the manufacturers largely depend on the consumers.
Apart from seasoned journalists and marketing gurus, other dignitaries at the event are Dr Olalekan Fadolapo (DG, ARCON), Obinna Inogbo (Chief Executive, Worktainment Ltd), Timothy Ogundele (Head, Marketing Checkers Africa) and Dr Oludare Ogunyombo (Principal Partner, D’Intel Pearls Services Ltd).
