Urges Governor Sanwo-Olu to do the needful
The OMO EPETEDO FORUM is perturbed with the growing concerns by our people on decision of the APC and Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to renege on their promise to compensate Hon. Sola Giwa, winner of the Last Primary Elections into the Lagos State House of Assembly.
This is to appeal to our people to remain calm while we channel our complaints to the appropriate authority.
The Forum notes with utmost dismay that despite listening to Party Leaders against the wish of our people, Hon. Sola Giwa was neither rewarded as promised nor given back his mandate to represent the Constituency. While we are not and cannot be opposed to the emergence of Hon. Suleiman Afinnih, another indigene of the Community, as Constituency 2 representative, we vehemently kick against decision of the APC and it’s Governor not to fulfil the promise made to Hon. GIWA.
The Governor and his handlers, including Party Leaders of the APC MUST note that our people are highly bittered by the daylight robbery perpetuated by the party against their mandate and their decision to betray the trust reposed in the party. It should also be firmly noted that the support garnered by APC and it’s candidates in Lagos Island, particularly Epetedo Community, cannot be brushed aside. Epetedo Community produced the highest number of votes across Lagos Island and Lagos Island produced the highest number of votes across the state. Sadly, the Governor and his people chose to reward Eti-Osa with 12 slots despite failures recorded by the local government. Surprising is even the fact that Ninety Eight per cent of the chosen ones from the area are neither indigenes nor loyalists of the Party, talk more of those who confronted bullets during the polls.
The APC should equally note that our people are not dunce, they have toiled and laboured for the party so much that they got little or nothing as dividends of democracy.
OUR DEMANDS
- We demand an immediate review of all slots given to Lagos Island
- An immediate fulfilment of the promise and agreement reached with Hon. Sola Giwa and Lagos Island Constituency 2.
- A Comprehensive overhaul of appointments by the State Government to give preference to Indigenes of Lagos island.
Let it be known that ; A Government who robs Peter to pay Paul will always rely on the support of Peter.
