In order to encourage youths to business development, Orile Agege LCDA Chairman, Hon. Johnson Sunday Babatunde empowered youths with Point On Sale Machines, Chairs, Tables and umbrella.
The Council Chairman made the presentation during a session with National Youth Council of Nigeria ,Orile Agege Local Branch, at the council secretariat.
Babatunde said, ” This is a manifestation of what NYCN brought forward for us to assist the youths in Orile Agege. They came with this idea and we embraced it. This youth empowerment will continue. As we are empowering you, we are spending ₦100,000 on each participant. The POS is recharged with ₦50,000 and there is extra ₦50,000 to buy other things like recharge cards to augment the POS business.
”When you area into business like this, you must be focused, determined, dedicated and disciplined with the money. And kindly sacrificed to uplift yourself with this business.”
While speaking with journalists at the event, the council boss promised to give palliatives to Orile Agege residents in the few days.
”The Subsidy has been removed and there is need for palliatives for the people. We are going to give food items to about 10, 000 residents by subsidizing the price. They will be paying half of the actual cost and the local government will pay the remaining half. The POS operators will collect the money and bring the receipts to collect the food items like garri, rice, yams and beans,” he said
Meanwhile, Comrade Joseph Victor Ayobami, NYCN Coordinator Orile Agege branch, thanked the Council Chairman for empowering the youths and urged the beneficiaries to uplift themselves with grants.
