When some of us alleged that the March 18, 2023; guber polls in Zamfara was heavily militarised all in a bid to oust former Governor Muhammed Matawalle, many felt we were crying wolf when there is none.
Matawalle was someone who they had to edge out of office at all cost and by all means because of choosing to be with the masses.
His first sin was to make sure the enormous deposit of Gold in the state is for the good of the people and not selected few was considered an unforgivable one. His only motive for this was to change the status of Zamfara as the most poorest state in the country to an economically viable one.
His second sin was not just to publicly criticise the money policy in the guise of Naira swap by Central Bank of Nigeria, but also challenge it in court and got a judicial pronouncement against it.
When you think the worst is over, on Friday 9th of June 2023, a contingent of security operatives which comprises of men of Nigeria Police and the DSS stormed his country home in Maradun and his residence in Gusau in a commando style carting away vehicles, food items, clothing materials, kitchen utensils, and electronics. The said looting was under the watchful supervision of a contingent deployed by the Commissioner of Police which was led by his Deputy Commissioner Operations and one Isah Augie, who is the Chief Security Officer to Mr. Dauda Lawal.
It was reported that during the operation which was more of a robbery, every room in the two houses were burgled and stripped bare and both building were vandalised.
This move I believe was in furtherance of the onslaught against him now that they have installed their muppet in Government House Gusau.
I’m wondering what happened to securing a warrant to search his residence?
I’m wondering what happened to according him the courtesy and privileges of a former Governor by making a formal request to him rather than the needless showboating by the “interim” Governor whose electoral victory is subject to dispute at the Election Petition Tribunal?
What if at the end of the day, the vehicles which was the excuse for the invasion of the two residence of former Governor Bello Matawalle is established are his personal vehicles which he chose to use while in office, and which further explained why they had insignia of the office he occupied, what’s next?
I’m wondering if they will be honourable enough to accept their foolishness when the truth is revealed.
