Ogun: Recyclearn Initiative raises money through waste plastics, donates 96 Textbooks, 4 Schoolbags

In order to make pupils of Ogun State Public Primary Schools have access to necessary learning materials, Recyclearn Initiative raised monies, through recycling of plastics, to provide 96 textbooks and four schoolbags.

The Recyclearn Initiative is a non-governmental organisation committed to bridging educational gaps in low income communities through plastic waste recycling.

The recycling organisation made this bold step to eradicate how lack of learning resources are affecting many public schools in rural communities.

At the presentation ceremony, the Initiator and Project Lead, Abdulrazak Kazeem Adekunle; disclosed that the germane steps were taken to provide necessary learning materials for school and the pupils.

He said, ”In light of the above through our activities at Recyclearn Initiative and as a “Be the change project”, we were able to provide forty-two (42) recommended literacy textbooks (English) for Public Schools in Ogun State, eighteen (18) Macmillan Champion Mathematics textbooks (Numeracy) ,thirty-six (36) Queen Premier and four (4) school bags for learners in Ebenezer African Church Primary School, Ita Oshin Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.

We believe the materials will drastically reduce the challenges of lack of learning resources in the school while also improving learning outcome among learners in underserved schools.

On the part of the parents, this effort will reduce the financial burdens that come with buying of learning materials for their wards in the face of the Nigeria’s economic hardship.

At the event, the textbooks were presented in such a way that every pupils can always have access to them through his/her class teacher. Hence, each class was presented with 16 learning materials; each from primary 1to 6.

In all, 96 textbooks and four school bags were distributed to learners and schools from the proceed of plastics waste collected from the ocal environment.
